Timber vs PVC shutters — what's the difference?
Timber shutters, typically basswood or cedar, give natural warmth and grain and suit living rooms and bedrooms. PVC shutters are waterproof and better suited to bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas, since they resist moisture and warping.
Bi-fold vs sliding shutters — when is each used?
Bi-fold shutters concertina fully open to one side for an unobstructed view, and suit doors, balconies and wide openings. Sliding shutters run on a track and save floor space, which suits very wide spans or doorways where a bi-fold stack isn't practical.
Are shutters better than curtains or blinds for light control?
Shutters give the most precise, adjustable control of any window covering — the louvres tilt to fine-tune exactly how much light and airflow enters, without fully opening or closing. Curtains and blinds are typically closed or open, or filtered through fabric, rather than finely adjustable like a shutter louvre.
